New Project(s)

Saturday, September 26, 2009

This weekend I am taking on the task of re-finishing my dresser. Bryan had all of the things I would need from when he re-finished my desk. Which is perfect because all of the supplies can get pricey! Thanks Bry :)

I want my dresser to match my new bed and I'm going to put some handles on it too! It's only taken me about an hour to sand it down and paint half of it! I'm pretty quick! (hopefully I'm doing it right!)

I think it's going to turn out really well! I've never done this kind of thing before, but I think I want to do it more often! I'm having a really good time blasting my music, drinking redbull, and getting high off of the fumes :) I would open the windows, but it's HOT!! so I'll just breathe it in for a while :) Let me know what you think of my work! And Molly put up pictures of yours!

I'll put up more pictures when it's complete and back in my room!

Oh yeah! I'm also making some new pillows... I got some AWESOME fabric!

Big Girl Bed

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

My bed finally arrived! Yesterday Bart delivered my bed... a little overwhleming it came in three HUGE boxes! Later Bryan came over and helped me set it up (and when I say helped me, I mean he did it all!) It looked pretty simple, I probably could have done it myself... but he's just so good at putting stuff together :) So anyway, we put it together, took a step back, and tried to figure out how it would look best in my room. We decided to put it on the south side wall so when you walk into my room you see the beautiful headboard.

I love it SO MUCH! It's so high off the ground I almost have to jump to get in it! It's such a nice change because I've had my bed directly on the floor for about 6 years now. Time for change! I now have a few other projects that I want to accomplish before the weather gets too cold. I'm trying to figure out how to decorate. I want something soft and bright... those words sort of contradict, but it's what I want!

I'm going to re-finish my dresser so it matches my bed and put some handles on it so it look sort of antique-Y. I'm excited! I feel like there is always something to do around my apartment, like dishes, sweeping, moping, garbage... it gets a little exhausting on top of work and homework! But I'm trying to stay on top of it so it doesn't pile up. I am really enjoying life right now :) Alright... here are some pictures of my lovely bed!

please excuse the exposed box spring :)

What do you think of these colors? haha It might make me go crazy after a while... but maybe I can create something like this, just not as extreme!

P.S. I am SO excited my BEST FRIEND Molly is coming up in October to visit me! Oh and visit her family, too :) Love you, Moo!

I love Brownes Addition! From where I live I am three blocks from the grocery store, two blocks from The Elk, Cafe Marron, and Tullys. I love being able to walk if I need milk or bread or

RED BULL!!

Hope you are having an amazing weekend!

Happy Birthday Moo!

In honor of my best friends birthday I thought I would post a little something..... This video has always brought up good memories! Memories of me falling asleep before all the fun started! Molly and Justine (who are still two of my best friends) spent the night at my house and decided to make a little video on my web cam! There were so many more, but it seems this is the only one we saved onto a CD. Anyway! Happy 22nd Birthday Moo! I love you and I hope you have the BEST birthday EVER :)

Weddings

I have caught 2 bouquets in the past year.. HOW you ask? Well take a looksie at my technique.

1. First of all, I'm right in front, that way I can back pedal or sprint forward if I need to...And Full extension of the arms is necessary.
2. Removing anything that could potentially ruin your chances of catching the bouquet is a good idea... Although Rachelles shoes could double as a weapon!
3. Always stay one step ahead. Enough said.
4&5. Make sure you have the crowd engaged.
6. Hand placement is KEY. My technique =one up, one down. That way I can swoop in from any direction and claim the prize!
I hope this helps show you that catching bouquet can be easy as long as you have a plan. Go in there kick some butt, pull some hair, whatever you need to do so you can raise that bundle of marital magic above your head and go find yourself a husband!

**Special thanks to Natalie for capturing this awesome moment in time!

Concert Buzz

Recently I have been winning a lot of tickets on the radio... I don't know how I do it, because I really don't have a ton of free time, I just get lucky I guess! Well lately I have been winning concert tickets. In the past three weeks I've seen Matt Hires, Band of Horses, and Michael Franti & Spearhead. They were all so good! And even better because they were free!

Bryan and I went to all of the shows together... He's a good concert partner! Last night was Michael Franti. It was only a 1/2 hour acoustic set, but let me tell you! It so full of energy and upbeat songs SO AMAZING! We got to meet the band afterwards and took a picture with Michael Franti himself!
He was super tall and wasn't even wearing shoes! haha... I would have to say that Michael Franti and Spearhead was my favorite out of the three. There was probably only 30 people there, they played 5 songs, but they were just amazing! You have to see them if they ever come to your area (Molly, I'm talking to you). Atleast listen to some of their music!

Welcome Home! This is my new apartment! I love my little place (Actually it's not really little) so much I couldn't wait to show it to the blogger world! I love having my own spot and I can decorate and organize how ever I want! It's just me.. There is one bedroom, one bath, a full kitchen, and a HUUUGE living area! There is way too much room for just me! But It's ALL MINE :) Let me know what you think of my new place... Unless it's mean, then don't tell me :)

This is the view from outside my window... You can kind of see my NEW CAR! It's so bright and sunny I love it!
This is my desk. This is where I'll be doing all of my homework :) haha
This is the front door of my apartment. It opens up right into the HUGE living room. I don't have enough furniture to fill my apartment! I didn't think that was possible!
This is the AWESOME kitchen floor. I don't hate it that much.. It's definitely retro, not necessarily in the good way.
My Favorite kitchen device :) But I don't have anything that needs mixing! What's a girl to do?
I love stainless steel :) This toaster is awesome It has a blue light with a countdown timer!
My Bed... Next to the window... my room is so bright!
Everything in my apartment is SO TALL! I can't reach anything in my closet or in the kitchen! So I got a step stool :) I got it at Ross!
I really love my new apartment! It's going to be a great little spot  for me for the next year! Yup, I did it! I signed a YEAR LEASE! I really hate moving, so I'm staying here for as long as I can!
My Apartment is so close to everything: school, resturants, bars, and downtown! I love everything about it and am so excited about living on my own! This is definitely going to be an experience and I'll let ya know how it goes!
