Favorite things...

I am just loving this transition into fall! It's still hot during the day, cooling off at night. Just the right amount of sunshine. I am actually quite proud of myself because I have been putting in some hours studying (instead of watching Hulu, going out, or online shopping). This is my final year at GU and I have to admit I'm going to miss it! I have been getting into a routine that actually works and flows with my life.

So I am adding SCHOOL to the list of my favorite things. Also making an appearance:

- Laura, Suzy and Courtney. No explanation needed, they are just fantastic.
-Doing homework at my favorite bar.
-Vodka soda's (see above)
-My cooperating teacher. She is an amazing teacher and I am already learning so much from her.
-Getting random (but legitimate) checks in the mail.
-Catching up with old friends
-Getting letters, actual handwritten letters, in the mail
-Learning new ways to think in my Math Methods class
-Meeting new interesting people at my bar (Like the couple that's traveling to Hong Kong and bringing me back a ceramic watch)
- New Season of Gossip Girl!! (I'm a sucker for fashion)

....ETC...

Each year I like to take a week, a day, an hour, whatever it may be... and reflect on my life thus far. Today is one of those moments. I look at what I'm thankful for, what I need to work on, what I want/don't want in my life. I am so fortunate to have an amazing family and core group of friends that I can always count on.

Molly is my angel. We have both been so busy lately, but I know when I truly need her she drops everything for at least an hour so she can listen to my ridiculous stories about failed dates and stupid girls! She is my life long best friend and I can only hope that I am as good of a friend to her as she is to me.

Justine and Allison. Not only are you two of my oldest dearest friends but some of my most loyal. No matter where we are in life, if we haven't talked in two weeks or two months we can pick right back up where we left off. It's so comforting to know that I can come to you whenever I need to laugh, get drunk, or sit around an watch gossip girl. Justine I love your honesty and know that you will always tell me what I need to hear, and not just what you think I want to hear. Allie I love your kind soul. You always make me feel like the most important person. I love you.

Laura, my sweet sweet Laura. You are my newest friend, and I am so fortunate to have met you. You are a breath of fresh air. I love that you never hide anything. If you hate the world that day, you will let me know. If you appreciate something I did, you make me feel like it was the GREATEST thing ever! You are so giving and sweet and you always know exactly what to say. When I feel like saying "Eff You" to any situation I am in you always give me the best advice. "You an Me Baby, We're Stuck Like Glue"

It's been a while!

Back to school! Already?! yes... Unfortunately. Despite only having a three week break for my official summer I did a lot of fun things! I went to San Fransisco, Long Beach, moved into a new apartment, got a new job, made lots of friends, went to the lake, partied, all the while still maintaining an outstanding GPA :).

Getting back into the swing of things at school has been a pretty easy transition. I get my placement for my field experience next week and hopefully it's a good one! It is the last practicum I have before student teaching... which makes me a little nervous! I can't believe this is my last year! It has truly gone by too fast. I never thought I would say this, but I actually like being in school. I love learning new things and challenging my past beliefs. Being in school means that I don't have to take on full responsibility of life, just yet. I'm not ready! I mean, I've always been independent and gone where ever the wind blows me, but at this point in my life... I don't want to grow up!

I'm now working at a bar Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Obviously, I don't want to be doing this the rest of my life, but I have to say it fits perfectly with my life right now! It's such a fun, low-key, classy little spot with live music and plenty of drinks and good people. So for now... I am just enjoying being single and focusing on school and living life! I'm almost 23... 22 was a pretty great year. I've met a lot of wonderful people and had a lot of fun times!

Okay. I really don't have much else to say. OH. Except I saw this adorable video on YouTube and I can't help but think of my future students. Children are SO smart, it's crazy to think about how intelligent they really are and how their minds work in crazy ways. As a future teacher I try to keep in mind I need to always be leading my students to achieve their personal best instead of a specific state standard or test score. Teaching is so much  more than that. Okay here is the video.
