I'll Wear Your Colors, My Dear.

(Tank- Matty M, Jacket- F21, Jeans- Joe's, Shoes- Guess, Bracelets/necklace- Nordys, Sunglasses- Michael Kors)

Hello! There's plenty of room for you on this bench, here. Why don't you take a seat and stay a while? Maybe we can go for a walk through the park, bask in the the sunshine, run with the wind. Doesn't that sound like the perfect way to spend a Thursday evening? I would say YES. The sun has finally decided to show it's pretty face, and I am making the most of it, actually I'm sitting outside writing this as we speak. (Since we are speaking.)
As the days grow longer I grow more and more excited with all the things I can fill my days and nights with! Walks through the park, dining on patios, a fresh cool breeze as I drive. The little things, I tell ya!

I was dancing to April Smith and The Great Picture Show- Colors. NEW OBSESSION.
Check it.

Happy Thursday!

What is it about Marshmallows?

I just Love em. I really do. Every child does, I'm pretty sure.
How can you not? They are sweet, light, fluffy, airy, squishy, yum.

Going with yesterdays post, I thought I would share this video with you. It's an experiment on willpower. These kids are adorable.

I just love the little guy who actually waited.

My Passion

Tuesday, March 29, 2011

I grew up with two older brothers. They were always there to play with, compete with, but mostly take care of. My mom would always call me 'Mother Hen.' I was always trying to mother them even tho I was the baby in the family.

I started babysitting when I was 9 or 10 years old. I loved kids and loved being able to be apart of their lives.

When I was 19, I decided to pack up and move to Austin, Texas. I wasn't ready to go back to school and I was in dire need a change in my life. I started looking online for nanny positions that could possibly take me somewhere other than here. I signed up with an agency online and soon after received phone interviews. A month later I was flying down to Austin to meet the family that I would soon be living with.

Immediately I clicked with the little girl, Ava. She was 18 months at the time and already seemed so smart. They took me on a tour of Austin and explained my duties if I were to accept the position. I was SOLD.

I could go on and on about Austin, but it was really Ava that I was most looking forward to taking care of.

I flew down in August and started settling in. My days consisted of taking Ava to pools, parks, museums, movies, and other fun things around the city. It was a blast! Besides all of the complications of living with the family my time spent in Austin really solidified my love for children.

Some pictures I took of Ava

Upon my return to the Northwest, I began school at Gonzaga University pursuing my degree in Sociology and Elementary Education Certification (That's a mouthful). I have spent my senior year volunteering in classrooms and dedicating my time to researching low income schools. My thesis is near and dear to my heart. I've been studying how universities prepare their teachers to work in low-income, urban schools. These schools are populated with children who are already have so much stacked against them, it is truly my passion to see that quality teachers are distributed to these high-need schools.

With all of this said, I just wanted you to know what I really feel passionate about. Of course clothes, shoes, and jewelry are interests of mine, but they could never make me feel as loved as when a student says:
"Miss Mallah, I wish you could teach me forever."

That's what does it for me. That's what pulls at my heart strings, and makes me want to be the most amazing teacher and example of a person.

Rissy Rocks.

Obviously, right? I mean... she has my button on her page!! I get comments saying 'I found you from Rissy's blog' and Google tells me the saaaame thing!

So, I just wanna say:

Thank you!

Ohhhh Hey There...

I've missed you. I really, truly have! But please let me explain why I've been missing the past few days.

You see, I have had the most wonderful, exciting, fantastic, exhilarating 5 days of my life.  Think I'm joking?

Well, you're right.
I've been SO so sick. I don't remember the last time I felt this terrible! Usually I'm not a big baby when I'm sick, I'll just suck it up. But I had no choice. All I wanted to do was curl up and watch cheesy movies, but I couldn't even look at a TV because I thought my head was going to explode from all of the pressure.

I had a fever, then the chills, then a fever. Oh and I have a sweet cough. This was the best part: I had a sneezing attack that lasted 2 hrs. This is no joke. I couldn't stop. So strange.

I finally went to the Doc this weekend and got some antibiotics so I'm finally feeling better! Thank goodness! I was starting to feel like David After The Dentist "Is this gonna be forever?!"

But now I'm back! I'll be catching up on all of your blogs that I've been missing out on! So be lookin for me. I can't tell you  enough how much I love your comments! They make my day! Thank you!!

Oh wanna know something funny? I was running such a high fever that I sleep walked! When I woke up I found in my bed:
 3 water bottles
 a bag of frozen veggies
and my sociology book.
I'm not sure what it all means....

Dancin Fool.

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

Here's the deal. I love guys that dance. Please do not confuse this with 'guys who know how to dance.'
I don't care if you go on the dance floor and look like Carlton, Napoleon, or this guy.

It's okay to look like a fool. I let my crazy flag fly all the time.
Just know, that I will look like a fool with you. Let's get foolish.

Country bars are probably my most favorite things. A combination of live music, mechanical bulls, booze, and dancing on tables. Not many places allow this, let alone encourage it!

Here's how the night went down:
We walk in to the country bar (All decked out in daisy dukes and cuteness)
Get a pitcher (filled with deliciousness)
And within 10 minutes we found our dancing partners that would last all night!
Will, Buck, and Danny. My new favorites.

There is just somethin about a country boy, ya know? It brings me back to my days in Austin.
I miss it so much!

Oh, Did I mention that I told everyone it was my birthday?
Oh, and I got a free shot for my birthday, which led me to dance like this (just go with it)
By the end of the night my friends and I were part of the band!
Just call us the Ryan-ettes!

On Location

(Dress- Old Navy, Shoes- Ross, Sweater- Splendid, Belt- came with jeans from years ago, Jewelry- F21)

I did it! I finally got off my butt (and outta my house) and took some pics outside!
And I've gotta tell you... it felt great!
At first I felt a little silly as people walked by and probably thought I was crazy.

My favorite part: I was using my car as my tripod because I don't actually have one. So This guy pulled up next to me and said, "Do you need help?"
Then I realized it was one of my former professors.

That totally broke the ice for me, I mean how much more embarrassing could it get?

So off I went to find some other cool colored walls... it was just a great day.

Oh and I've been experimenting with some different tones in my pics... I don't know if I actually like them yet.. So tell me what you think! Pretty please :)

 This is my serious face.
Oh, did I not tell you? I'm a bear in my spare time.

Be Irresponsible.

Friday, March 18, 2011

I went out last Saturday for the St. Patty's Day parade. And this is what my day looked like in pictures.

It started with a bloody mary and a beer (X2)

I was feelin pretty good about the shirt that I cut up. I was just feelin pretty good in general.
Then an Irish Car Bomb (I'm kind of a pro at taking them)

Excitement + Delightful beverage

And I think it was riiiight about here where i dropped my phone.
After taking this awkward picture, of course.

And THIS is what I ended the night with. Oh dear... It still works! But it sure gets a reaction out of anyone who sees it!

Hope your night turned out a little better than mine! (Although, I think I had a blast...)

Adele Loves Gonzaga.

Just a lil Somethin Somethin...
Trust me, I in-no-way-shape-or-form try to compare myself to Adele.
 She is freakin fantastic.
And me? Well, I just like to hold a guitar and pretend that I know what I'm doing.

P.s. How about those Zags?!! Up against 6 seed St. John's..who said we wouldn't pull through! Hope you had faith on your bracket!

My Brain Has Left Me.

Thursday, March 17, 2011

Last week I promised that I would post picture of my sushi making adventure with my mom.
Well, I lied.
I didn't mean to, I swear, but you have to understand: I think my brain is on strike.
Lately I have misplaced things, forgot what times my classes were, and completely zoned out. What's my deal?
I don't know anyone that can answer that question, but with that being said! All I can do is throw my hands up in the air and hope for a clearer, more focused week in the future!
Done with excuses.

Sushi Time! My mom said she wanted to make sushi and I was stoked! So I headed over there just to realize she wanted to make california rolls. *Que Major Eye-Roll*
Mom, California rolls aren't reeeally sushi. I mean they are but they aren't, ya dig?

Oh well, I still was down to get sticky rice on my hands.

So I cut the cucs, stripped the avocados, and almost gaged when I smelt the imitation crap crab.
Just call me Sous Chef Sabrina.

Then we pressed the rice, added veggies, (some with crab) and rolled em tight.

I think we made 100 rolls, I don't really remember I was totally in the zone.

Have you ever made sushi? Do you even like sushi?
Tell me all about it, sistas (and porkstar).

P.S. (Rissy I'm taking after you) I'm sitting in class right now and would give anything to be anywhere else.

Is Anyone Out There?!

Monday, March 14, 2011

Here's the deal. I wanna know who you are. I mean, REALLY get to know you!

I was at work one weekend and one of my customers said, "Hey, don't you have a blog?"
Can you guess my reaction?
A. Totally wanted to die laughing.
B. Got red in the face.
C. The pitch of my voice went to a sudden shriek.
D. All of the above.

Well you probably guessed it! I unconsciously did all of those things, including almost spilling a drink on him! The point here being... I wanna know who reads my little blog!

Whether you're a follower, frequent reader, or you just like to check in every once in a while. I'm just dying to know you!

I completely understand not commenting, it's not mentally possible to comment on every blog I read, I get it! But here's my little bitty favor I'm asking of you....

If you know me, know of me, heard about me from a friend, or just somehow stumbled upon my blog I would love to hear from you! If you wouldn't mind writing a little comment about yourself, something silly, serious, interesting or maybe a question you have for me!

Once I get all of your responses I have a little surprise for you all
(this may or may not include my guitar and a Phoebe Buffay inspired song. For all of you Friends lovers out there!)

So what do you say?
That's not too much to ask for is it? Also send me a link to your blog so I can ch-ch-ch-a-check it out.

Okay, back to homework! (And the Bachelor)

Just Peachy

(Pants and top- Gap, Jacket- F21, Ring- American Eagle, Necklace- Gifted, Shoes-Nordys, Nails- OPI Spontaneous)

Spring Break. Ahhh.. my sigh of relief. I've been able to do all of the things I've been meaning to do like go to costco, clean my apartment, go through all of my crap and give things to goodwill...ect. It feels so good be productive for a few hours. It makes me so SO happy when I walk into my place and everything is put away in its neat little spot. But trust me, it won't stay like this for long! I swear, it's a good week and it goes right back to craziness!

But it's okay. I've come to realize that my life is such. I think everything is falling into place, and then I get hit like freakin train! But I know how to deal, and I am so blessed that my life is pretty stable. And luckily I have an awesome group of friends and my family near.

My mom and I went shopping the other day and I picked up these jeans and this top. The jeans were 40% off and then we got and extra 15% off of everything! I love scoring deals! So I've been wearing them like crazy the past few days. So Comfy and stretchy my favorite combination!

Ohh and what do you think of my couch? LEOPARD!!

Happy Friday!

Roll Over

Wednesday, March 9, 2011

(Pants-Gap, Shirt- F21, Watch-Fossil, Necklace-Tiffanys, Sweater-Express, Shoes-Dolce Vita)

Whenever I head into see my third graders I have to remember that I can't dress like I do every day. I dream of someday owning (and rocking) the clothes in the Gap and J. Crew ads, but for now I have to work with what I've got. Usually I don't wear pants that show the tattoo on my foot, but my classroom has already pointed it out once or twice.

"What does that say? Who are The Beatles? My mom has a tattoo on her..."

I found these pants at The Gap last summer on sale for $6! I couldn't pass them up! Although they were a little too big, and a little too long. I never knew how to make them look right until I saw THIS!

It's totally okay to roll your pants! haha Who would have thought that the creative director of J. Crew would roll her pants? Love it. Go ahead and try it! I dare you :)

Double Post Day!

Tuesday, March 1, 2011

Almost as good as a Double Rainbow :)

Fat Day.

(Top- Rack, Scarf- Gap, Watch- Fossil, Coat- LoLo Boutique, Jeans necklace and socks- F2, Boots- Frye seen here and here)
Yup. I said it. I'm having a fat day. Ya know what? Instead of throwing on my most comfy yoga pants or these, I decided I would actually look presentable for the day.

Oh and I was getting really frustrated with my camera because everything was turning out blurry and it wasn't focusing on detail, but then I found the setting and it's like MAGIC!

I really could use a new camera...any one want to loan (and by loan I mean gift) me a cool grand so I can buy a  Cannon EOS Rebel T2i... Any takers?? It would be greatly appreciated!

Look for the next post: My mom and I made sushi the other day mmmMmm!
