Hoopfest

Tuesday, June 28, 2011

Hoopfest is the biggest event that happens in my city. It is the largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament in the world bringing in lots of players, spectators and volunteers. I'm pretty sure my city doubled in population over the weekend. For many of the players it's a chance to prove they are a baller by winning a t-shirt. most of the time people just shit-talk from the side lines, get riled up and kicked off the court. (Not that that has ever happened to me... no, really!)

I'd say that is a foul...

For me, hoopfest was all about selling hotdogs. That's right. I was an official wiener girl....
"Hot dogs!! Hot and juicy!"
I put on my finest daisy dukes, tube socks and cut up the ugly flattering tank top provided. Off I went peddling hot dogs like there was no tomorrow!

Many people were just confused... others thought I was hilarious. Over all I had a blast selling those little wieners.

Wildflower

Friday, June 24, 2011

I'm a wildflower growin' in the sunshine.
Soakin' up the way of life I was raised in.
Runnin' barefoot bloomin in a summer shower.
Ponytail dancin', I can't help it
 I'm a wildflower.

Happy Friday! Go shake your ponytail!

Two places at once.

Thursday, June 23, 2011

Ever been in two places at once? Me either. WAIT today I am guest posting in 2 places! So I guess that technically means that I am in three places at once. Nevertheless, if you haven't checked em out you really should!
These are two of my blogging BFFs. Always making me laugh and saying things that brighten my day.

First, you all know Rissy. You know, hilarious little brunette Carrie Underwood look-a-like. There are many words to describe this girl but I'll choose this one. Galvanizing. As in: she will galvanize your brain. Check out my post on my worst job ever.

Photobucket

Next, is this dahhhling little blonde photog, Shalyn. She is seriously the sweetest Texan I have ever met. I have so much blog love for this little lady! You can see my Vlog here.

So if you're feeling up to it please check out this and this post!!

Thanks lovelies!

Ursher.

Yesterday's post got me in the mood for some Ursher. So I started listening to some old tracks and came up with this little diddy.

Thanks for watching!
Happy Wednesday!

These are my confessions

Tuesday, June 21, 2011

Today I am linking up with Carissa from Carissa Explains It All Mostly because she is really effing cool.

Here are my confessions for the week:

I confess I came home at 2:30 am from the bars and made myself breakfast. Eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast.
I confess that I probably should have worked out this week due to my awesome eating habits.
I confess that I like to take really weird pictures. My friend was on my computer and saw just how many I took and said something like "Uhhh...were you really bored or something?"

I confess that every time I hear the word confessions I think of Ursher. Yeah, Ursher. I wouldn't mind having his baby. Too much?

Make sure you check out Rissy's blog! She will make your cheeks hurt!

Texture Tutorial

Monday, June 20, 2011

I've had some questions about how to use textures. Here is a little tutorial on how I use them! I downloaded the textures from Brusheezy.com. Here ya go:

Choose any picture you want.

Adjust the levels and increase the amount of black just to give it a little extra pop.
Choose a texture. I really like this vintage one.
Adjust the texture to  fit over the picture.

Duplicate your original picture and put the vintage texture inbetween the two layers.

Adjust the blending mode on the texture layer to MULTIPLY and the opacity to 40-70% (whatever you think looks best)

Also adjust the opacity on the top layer
*** play around with opacity and blending modes. I also like to use soft light or overlay.

Select the texture layer. Choose the eraser and erase the texture from the skin and anything else you want to stand out.

I added another layer just for fun. Exclusion at 48%

It’s all about playing around until you get something that you like. I like photos that have a little bit of texture to them. I think it gives them a little bit of flavor. Let me know if this was helpful!

Let the Sun Shine

Friday, June 17, 2011

I just thought I would share some of the photos I took yesterday at sun down. I've been experimenting with some different editing techniques like using textures and different layers.

My camera and I have been forming a very close bond. You can even see me flirting with her a little. No, I'm not into girls, but this little lady is something special.

See? Flirt.

Have an amazing weekend!

Fake It

Thursday, June 16, 2011

(Hat, maxi- Target, tank- Nordstrom, belt- F21, shoes- Rack)

Sometimes I wake up on the wrong side of the bed. Shocker, I know. Please keep reading. Sometimes I don't want to smile, or be nice to the coffee lady, or sit and listen about how everyone thinks your hot. Sometimes instead of politely smiling and giggling, I want to yell "Have you NEVER seen anyone take a picture before?!"
That being said: That is no way to live life. So here is how I cope.
Fake it, people.
I wouldn't suggest this in every aspect of life (i.e. the bedroom) but for the most part if you pretend like you feel a certain way, soon enough you'll actually start feeling as such.
It's science, I saw it on wikipedia.

So this day I pretended I was a model. And now I am officially a model. Okay, that's not true at all.
But I was in a much better mood after I snapped a few!
Moral of the story: don't let a little dark cloud ruin a perfectly beautiful day, there is always sunshine right behind it.

Roommate Day

Wednesday, June 15, 2011

Roommate and I finally got to spend some quality time together! Not to say that 15 years of friendship isn't quality time, but I think our day together really put the cherry on top of the decade and a half.

We started the day going to lunch with my parents, buying a new lens and sharing things about our week. We headed home to put on our bikinis (and avoid every thought of doing homework). After toasting our skin for a few hours we moseyed on over to Huckleberry's.

*** Side note! I really don't enjoy the spelling of moseyed it should be spelled mozied. Mozy and Mozied. Just sayin...Okay back to real life...

We stopped to admire the beautiful flower garden our neighbors have.

We filled a six-pack with all summer beers including Wailua Wheat Ale. Summer in your mouth, people.  Try it!

We also got all the makings for fish tacos. Nothing says summer better!

A little tilapia, spicy guacamole, black beans and salsa.

We ended the night with a candy run. Scored a bagful for $5, popped some corn, and headed to go see Bridesmaids. (Yes, we sneak our own popcorn into movies). It was such a beautiful day/night. We enjoyed each others' company, laughed, talked and grew just a little closer.
Although I didn't get my homework done, I'd say my day was pretty productive.

I'll leave you with a video of our favorite bridesmaid.

Shoot Me

Friday, June 10, 2011

So here they are, folks! These are the pictures Malcolm shot of me the other day. I can't even begin to tell you how awkward I felt. haha I was laughing at myself the whole time (As you can see in the last picture).
I've been getting used to being stared at for taking my own pictures, but it's much different when someone else is behind the lens. Speaking of lenses: I am in need of a good one.
The one that came with mine is great, pretty standard. Do you have any suggestions as far as Canon Lenses go? Let me know lovelies!

Sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself! Happy Friday!
