Mermaid Eyes

Friday, July 29, 2011

When it comes to make up, I usually stick to pretty neutral colors. I have olive skin due to my middle-eastern heritage, so a lot of colors look silly (At least in my opinion). In a fit of boredom, I went by MAC the other day and picked up this liner:

(Surf, Baby in Blue Noon)

In another fit of boredom, I layered it with a similar toned shadow and paired it with a pinky-peach lipgloss. Here is the Final Product:

(You know I have to throw crazy face in here!)

I was surprised at how it brought out the green in my eyes! I wore this makeup to work and got all sorts of compliments. One to the tune of "You look like a beach angel!" Maybe I need to experiment more often?

What is your go-to make up routine? Do you experiment with colors?
Want to see more make up looks?
Lemme know!

Enjoy your weekend, my lovelies!

Cocoa and Hearts

Thursday, July 28, 2011

I recently won a giveaway on Linh's blog! First of all, how beautiful is Linh? And her Style? To.Die.For.

I am so IN LOVE with this original Cocoa and Hearts Painting! I still need to get it framed, but for now it has found it's place on my dresser next to my bed. The Gold really shines in the light.

You should really check out Jen's artwork. She is truly talented! Her color combinations are so beautiful I know you will love them as much as I do!

Don't you worry

Hello Friends! I know you've all been wondering where I've been and what is so important that has me neglecting my blog. Well I'll try to clear up some of the rumors.

-I did not get attacked by a bear while I was picking huckleberries
-I did not get lost on a hike and find my way out like Bear Grylls
-I did not get eaten alive by mosquitoes and spent every waking moment scratching myself.
(That last one may be true)
I actually think I set a record for bug bites. I can't keep track of how many because they keep showing up in the more random places! My ear lobe, palm, baby toes. Friends, it's miserable.

So I promised an outfit post, yet let me explain. I had every intention of waking up early so I could get ready for class, make coffee, ect... But I was a little exhausted from life. So I slept in, threw on a button up and my most comfy jeans (Because it's not exactly summer here...) and slicked my unwashed hair back with a cloud of hairspray.  Off I went to class to key and identify plants. Oh the life!

I am so happy to see some new followers here! Hello, first of all. Thank you, secondly. Lastly, I promise I'm not always this lame!

P.s. Another reason for jeans = covering my nasty legs. Trust me, I usually like to show them off, but there are bites and bruises ALL OVER. Thanks a lot Field Botany. Due to your unreasonable hikes through uncharted territory I must retire my daisy dukes. #sadday

What I've been up to.

I know.. I know. I've been MIA. I just wanted to catch you up a little bit before I head out for the weekend. I am heading on another field trip for my class. This time we are actually going some place that I LOVE! We are going to pick huckleberries and float the river. Or atleast that's what I plan on doing :)

I've been drinking a lot of these..
Photobucket
I got bags of spinach for a DOLLAR the other day! So I've been a smoothie making machine. Yum

On my little road trip I stopped to get some fresh fruit at a market.
Photobucket
Rainier Cherries are the BEST. Yum.

I made these a while ago, but they were DELISH and so simple. I'm going to have a bbq soon so these will definitely be making an appearance.

I promise I will be featuring more outfit posts next week! I don't think you would be interested in what I've been wearing lately, my wardrobe consists of yoga pants and flip flops or work clothes. Both equally unattractive.
-------------------------------------------------------
P.S. I was SO excited last night when I got to work because I was assigned an 8-person party in our private dining area. They were all French Business men that spent a lot of money. Their tab was close to $900...can you guess the tip?

I don't usually stereotype... but holy french toast. They are NOT good tippers.

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Photos from my Phone

Tuesday, July 19, 2011

I really don't have that much to say today (That's a first). I have been stuck in between vacation mode and get-my-butt-in-gear mode. It's hard to switch back! So far now, I leave you with pictures from my phone (with minimal commentary, for these pictures speak for themselves)
Enjoy!

A perfectly good party dress. Who would ever donate this?!

My Favorite beer: Mac n Jack's. If you ever come to visit me in Washington I'll buy you a pint.. or 4 :)

One last thing before I go! I kid you not, there was a man playing the accordion right outside my window last night. It could have been really Paris-like-Romantic but it was after midnight!
All I could think of with Steve Urkel :)

I confess
I would LOVE to get a shoulder piece one day, but I just know my mom would cry if I did! I think tattoos are so beautiful and lovely So, after I get married, I am determined to be COVERED in tats. (Tastefully, of course)

I confess
I have been eating REALLY healthy lately! Quinoa, Green Monster Smoothies, brown rice, fresh veggies, salmon. I have been DETOXING after California...
(Good food + Alcohol) x (Excessive) = not so skinny girl.

I confess
I am trying to think of any excuse to get out of a camping trip this weekend.
"Whhhhat? You don't like Camping?"
I Love Camping. I do.
I hate examining flowers for 8 hrs a day.

I was SO excited when I got off work early yesterday! I ran home, grabbed my camera and tripod, and headed to High Drive. I was racing the sun as it was setting. Such a beautiful sight. I think I got SO excited that I forgot to adjust ANY of the settings on my camera. I left the ISO at 6400. First, of all I don't know why it was up that high. And Second of all.... it left me with REALLY grainy pictures. I was kind of sad, but I did a little bit of editing magic to try to make it look like I meant to.

Here are the results:

Can you spot the beer can?

I think this may be my most favorite outfit. I don't usually play favorites, but I think I really got it right with this one. I got this baggy blazer at The Gap for $12, but I haven't had the opportunity to wear it. I don't usually wear pink. I would definitely consider myself "girly" but pink just isn't in my wardrobe. But the mix of this blazer, HUGE jewels, and crisp white really just made me all giddy!

Cali: Day 2

Friday, July 8, 2011

Warning!!
This blog may contain content that is not suitable for baby ears. If this is you, or anyone around please put on earmuffs. And eye muffs, for that matter. Here we go.

We started off ambitious. We had big plans to ride bikes from bar to bar, see the sights, jump in the ocean, then go to a BBQ. Well we didn't end up jumping in the ocean, but we did make it to a lot of bars.

We hopped on our bikes and headed to Woody's for a Champagne Brunch. And when I say Champagne I mean UNLIMITED champagne! Apparently they cut you off after two hrs, but that wasn't an issue for us. Our server would walk over and top us off any time he saw our glass slightly less than full. It was magical.

Me and Betsy

I had a steak burrito with avocado. I could have died right there and been happy. Goodness it was delish!

Check out this video. I don't think the champagne kicked in yet.

Next we headed to my most FAVORITE bar, Mutt Lynch's. Seriously SO fun! They have big schooners of beer, of course I needed one two and a half. Which, in turn, made me dance on a table. It was the beer's fault, not mine. Of course I rapped "Gold Digger." For anyone who knows me, that is my go-to karaoke song. So when it came on in the bar, I felt compelled to get my gangster on.

 Tay

As promised, here is one of the pictures after I fell off my bike. Betsy is a bitch. She really is... She kept leading me off the boardwalk and into the sand! Rude.

We proceded to ride/crash our bikes to this other bar Blackies and that's where I Blackie'd out. Get it?
Hmmm someone can't hold their adult beverages.

Next was Cabo Cantina, where I fell asleep sitting up and the bounces politely asked me to take a nap somewhere else. I obliged.

I chose a gazebo on the lawn.
Goodness.

We left the bikes and walked to the BBQ. Probably the best choice we made all day!
At the BBQ I B-lined to a bed and took my nap. (Which ended up being close to 5 hours)
When I woke up I was ready for round two!

Well round two consisted of cutting a Birthday cake (I don't know why they asked me to do it) and lighting off fireworks. Over all, it was an amazing day!

On our way home we hit up a 7-11 and cleaned them out of chips and candy. I'm not sure the lady was so amused...

Rompin

Thursday, July 7, 2011

I thought I would throw in a little outfit post in between my Cali recaps. Ya know.. just to spice things up a bit.

And let me tell you! I brought the sunshine back from California. Why yes I did! Stuffed it right into my back pocket.

Spokane is finally getting a little taste of summer. (Mine taste like fruits and veggies because I am on a major detox after the partying!) It's probably best, anyway.

I went to this little park near my house to snap a few shots before work. As I was rompin around trying to adjust the white balance on my camera and walk down hill... I twisted an ankle!! I sure looked like a fool! Who goes on a hike in wedges?

Well, then I noticed this man in his car pull up. No, not because he was all-sorts-of-hot. Because he was BLASTING  "Total eclipse of the heart" from his Ford Taurus. Needles to say, I got his digits.

Kidding of course. But he did watch my entire photoshoot and then proceeded to whistle as I trekked back to my car. Really dude? Is that really how you get chicks? I think he just expected me to jump in his Taurus and ride into the sunset. Or maybe something a little less innocent. #townfullofcreepers

Okay Okay... with out further adieu:

(Romper- F21, Shoes-Ross Bracelettes- Nordstom, F21, Macys, Bag- JoTotes)

Yes, I know this picture is seriously awkward. I wanted to add it  so I could show you my new camera bag!

Ohh... and those ugly things on my legs? Yeeeeahhh.. I fell off a bike. A few times.
I'll be posting pictures of that fiasco in the next few posts.

p.s. Thank you Shalyn for suggesting JoTotes!! I LOVE my bag! And I LOVE you!

Cali: Day 1

Wednesday, July 6, 2011

Apologies, my friends. I have been slacking. Real Bad. I'm going to try to get your up to speed here but it may take a little while because I have been in California for the past 5 days. So I'll try to break it down for ya.

First day:
It began with a phone call at 3:00 am saying my flight has been delayed from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. REALLY.

So I get my butt outta bed, call a taxi and frantically pack everything I think I need. 30 mins later I'm on my way to the airport crossing my fingers I'll be able to make it on the 6am flight!
I get there and the lady tells me I have to buy a one way ticket and then they will refund me later. Perfect.
After $225 + $30 ticketing fee I was on my way to Cali. (Don't you worry, I'm getting every penny of that back!)

I arrive at LAX at 10:30 am where Tay is waiting. The Fun Begins.
We get manicures and then head out to get ready for a BBQ. Lay poolside, drinking margaritas and eating fresh guacamole.
I'm. In. Heaven.

Instead of BBQ'ing I guess we decided to go to El Matador. Apparently this place has the strongest margaritas in the world. I don't think they really effected me.

Totally sober.

My first day in Cali was a blast. Compared to all of the rest, this day was pretty calm! Promise I'm not an alcoholic... but these next few posts will be filled with party pics :) Unfortunately I didn't bring my new camera so these pics are all from my point and shoot... but looking back I'm glad I didn't bring it. I'm not sure if it would have survived the trip!

I'm going to catch up on some homework and then catch up one your BLOGS!! I've missed you too much!!

p.s. Hello new followers!
