Hospitals

Hospitals terrify me. My one big fear in life involves a trip I took to the hospital almost a year ago. Without going into too much detail... I had surgery to have 1 and 1/2 of my girly parts (ovaries) removed. And yes... humor is how I deal with everything.

Before going into surgery I remember the Doctor telling me that there was a chance they would have to remove both, which would send me into early menopause. I had JUST turned 23. The thought of being 23 in a 55 year old body terrified me. On top of that, there was a large chance I may not be able to have babies on my own.
......

And that is when the fear set in.

I can't believe how hard it is for me to write this post right now. I've had a year to deal with it... but that thought still shakes me.

But I have to think of it this way: God only gives us as much as we can handle. And yeah... for a while I was angry that he gave me a bum-ovary ( I guess two bum-ovaries)... but I realized I must be thankful he gave me an amazing mom who rushes out of bed at 6am to take me to the hospital, who never leaves my side.

Thankful I had friends, near and far show me the greatest love I have ever felt.

I am thankful for the large scar right across my bikini line. No matter what it means to others, it is my most beautiful battle wound. That scar means so many things. And yes, maybe I won't be able to have babies on my own, but for now... I can be the best Auntie in the world to these precious babes.

See that missing tooth? Aspen even graced us with a song about how babies don't have teeth. Did you know that? :)
How lucky am I?

Such Great Warmth

(Dress, vest, rings, necklace, socks, bracelets-F21 Boots- Sam Edelman)

The time has come where the night slowly takes over the day. When the cool breeze seems slightly cooler as is blows the warm sun out of your hair. That sun, you once hid from under a shady tree, is now longed for in hopes it won't leave too soon.

With the changing of the seasons comes a slight sadness as the long balmy nights fade into your distant memories. Now, looking for something to replace the warmth of that golden glow.

Fortunately, not all the beauty has faded. Leaves are changing, cinnamon accompanies every smell and that something that warms you just might leave you feeling warmer than the sun ever could.

I'm looking forward to all of the lovelies this Autumn brings.

Day Two of Texas!

I know you've all (y'all've ?) been waiting for this! So I won't put it off any longer!

Day two started off with a pair of hangovers for me and Shay....Those Purple Margaritas will getchya every time! Fortunately mine faded after some food and water.... for Shay it clouded her day just slightly :) (Honestly I would have never known except for the trip to the bathroom where she almost lost it!)

Today is the day we pick up Erica! Super excited because not only do we get to hang out with Erica... but immediately after we get to meet Jenni! Lucky girls we are!

Pedicures were needed after a long day of walking. My massage chair was on SUPER earthquake mode.

Unfortunately the lil lady murdered my toe. It seriously looked like a crime scene.

Oh! Then we dropped it like it was hot in the grocery store. Rissy, you would be proud! Of course we recorded it, who do you think I am?? I new blogger? ppshhh. :)
*Awesome video to follow

Next on the list was Big Texas Hair and a trip to Dave and Busters

Photobucket

It was SO much fun playing games and laughing with these girls! Erica and I were definitely shown up by a dude in Dance Dance Revolution. I swear I didn't know feet could move that fast.

We ended the night falling asleep to project runway. #toocool

Trust me... the third day gets EVEN better!!

The Heart of Texas (Part 1)

Wednesday, September 21, 2011

Last weekend (as I'm sure you've heard) I took a trip down to see my friend Shalyn and Erica. I'm telling you, I couldn't have had a better time. We could have just sat on the couch all weekend and I would have been content.
Don't worry y'all, we didn't just sit on the couch!
Photobucket

How lucky am I? I got to spend the entire weekend with these two lovelies!

Okay... let's start from the beginning!

Photobucket

The anticipation was killing me as I exited the plane. I headed down the long escalator, with the though, "I've gotta get this on the FLIP!"
Shay had texted me earlier that I should look for a girl that looked like Waldo. So I slowly descend to the baggage claim where I see Shay standing and giggling! We run towards each other and hug! Instant friends, but we already knew that!

We get my bag and head to get some food with Drew Drew Hot Pants.

The we had a brilliant idea that we should dress up like a Gorilla and a Banana when we pick up Erica from the airport! So off to the Halloween store we go!

Oh and then we decided we needed a sign saying HOWDY! because that is the only proper way to welcome someone to Texas for the first time. So we went to the craft store. We made it out with iron-on letters, figures, and decals and BRIGHT ass yellow zip-ups. BLINDING.

Go Blog, or Go Home. I can't get over how awesome we are.

After being all crafty-n-shit, we got all dolled up and headed to Baby A's for a purple margarita or two. P.s. the LIMIT is two. We live life on the edge.

To end the night, we talked my friend Jason into starting a blog, and then headed to his house to play a little rock band. He gave us a tour of his mansion and Shay and I just about DIED! Two roof top patios, amazing kitchen, and a big ol' mancave!

It was such an amazing first day in Texas. The second day gets even better... can you believe it!

Have you had any Blates? Tell me how they went!

Time for Texas

Thursday, September 15, 2011

I have been waiting for this day for FAR too long. I am finally getting on a plane and flyin my butt on over to Austin. While I'm there I plan on eating Tex/Mex, drinking margaritas and MOST IMPORTANTLY hanging out with two of my blog bffs! You might know them as Shalyn and Erica... have I mentioned them before? Well I made a little vlog for you so I could demonstrate JUST how stoked I am!

I will see you when I get back from the dirty south. It's gettin hot in herrrrr, ya'll. You should probably get used to me saying ya'll now.... it's happening.

Love, Hugs and Big Texas Hair!

Amuse Me

Thursday, September 8, 2011

My humor is pretty wide spread. I tend to find amusement in just about anything... mostly myself. I definitely have an inappropriate side. I also have a really silly/ laugh-at-anything side. I think these links cover all of my bases. I promise they will put a smile on your face that makes it worth the read.

Lately, I've been looking for the perfect coffee table.

This Guys' sarcasm makes my sides hurt.

I have become a devout follower since I read this post.

I hope you laugh your little butts off.
It's alllllmost Friday!
Which means it's almost next week.
Which means I'm almost in Texas. I'm busting out my boots.

Put A Bow On It

Wednesday, September 7, 2011

Photobucket

(Sweater- Gap, Necklace- Gift, Skirt, Bracelet, Rings- F21, Shoes- Dolce Vita, Watch-Fossil)

I love the feeling of a perfect fit. Whether it be your toes sliding into platform pumps, lyrics that speak to your life, fingers making their way into five others or tightly wrapped arms. There is just something there that makes that moment unforgettable. Whether it's ten minutes or ten years before you feel that way again... you know it was made for you. It's like someone wrapped it up, put a big bow on it and is just waiting for you to rip it apart.
But instead of tearing into this wonderful gift... cherish what it's made of. The look, the feel, what's behind it and how long it will last. Sometimes the shelf life is instantaneous, others last a life time.

Now I know what you're thinking...
"Stop being all coy, and tell us what you are actually talking about!"

Here it is, straight up.
I am in love....with these new SHOES!

Yeah, I'm serious. They are perfect. They make me 19 feet tall and they have a pretty bow in the back. I am going to wear them to the gym, just because. I need to break them in for Austin (Who am I kidding? I don't do anything at the gym).

So there you have it. If you want to make something beautiful put a bow on it. It works every time...
just like Put a Bird on it.

Weekend in Pictures

Tuesday, September 6, 2011

I have to be honest with you. I had ALLLLL of Monday off so I definitely should have posted, but instead I had breakfast with family, went shopping with my mom, ate homemade lasagna and took a few outfit pics. So it wasn't an entirely unproductive day... but I could have at least said hello, right? Please forgive me.
(If you start to have withdrawals from my entirely too witty posts you can always find me on twitter for abbreviated banter)

Instead of stressing your eyes out with a verbal volcano, I thought I would send you something a little more pleasing on the eyes (At least in my opinion). There are SO many words I could use to describe this weekend...in short we'll go with this:
Almost broke my ankle 8 times... but absolutely worth it.
